Gamer Galaxy Card

Hello.

Today I am sharing a galaxy inspired card I made for the Altenew Educator Certification Programme. This card was made for the class ‘for the guys.’ Focusing on cards for boys and men is not always easy. I was inspired by a lot of ideas in this class and decided to blend a galaxy .

Galaxy backgrounds are always good fun. Each time will give a different result.

To blend the background I used some Arches cold pressed watercolour card. I selected Distress inks in various colours. Starting with yellow I blended 2 spots then added orange, pink then started another area blending pink and purple. Once the brighter colours were down I went between the areas with blue then dark blue. Then I added black working in form each edge. There is no right or wrong way to blend a galaxy and it will always look worst before it looks good but keep going.

Once the background was dry I used a paint brush and splattered some white gauche and some Gansai Tambi stary colours. White gold watercolour over the galaxy.

Once the background was finished I worked on the images. I stamped the controller image from the Altenew set ‘Best Dad ‘twice in Memento tuxedo black ink. I then coloured them with Copic markers and cut them out with my Scan n Cut.

I heat embossed the sentiment from the Altenew set ‘Heartfelt Sentiments’ on to the background using white embossing powder. I then attached the controller images using a tape runner.

To complete the card I attached the finished panel to a card base.

I love how the card turned out and the class has taught me new ways to make masculine cards.

Take care for now.

Unicorn Shaker Card

Hello.

It’s been a little while since I shared a shaker card but when I saw that Doodles Paper Playground were having a Birthday giveaway and contest I decided it was the perfect opportunity to share one to join in the fun #showmeyourshaker.

I immediately though of my cloud dies from Honey Bee stamps and some unicorns would be perfect for a shaker. This is how I made the card.

I started by cutting a card panel from Neenah 80lb to 4 and 1/4 by 5 and a 1/2 inches. I also cut 2 pieces of fun foam to the same size.

I placed 3 of the cloud dies from the Honey Bee Stamps set ‘Partly Cloudy’ on to my piece of card. Once I was happy with the placement I ran it through my Big Shot die cutting machine.

Next I used Distress Oxide inks in Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass and Squeezed Lemonade to add some colour to the card panel. I then used a Distress sprayer to spritz the panel with water and used a price of kitchen towel to soak up any excess.

I stamped out some images from The My Favourite Things stanp set Magical Unicorns and coloured them using Copic markers. I used my Scan n Cut to them out.

I stamped a sentiment from the MFT set and I adhered the images to the panel.

Next I worked on the shaker element. I adhered the 2 pieces of fun foam together. I then lined up the clouds from the front panel and cut 3 sections out of the fun foam that were slightly larger than the clouds.

I took a piece of acetate and adhered it to the back of the front card panel and adhered the fun foam panel on top of the acetate. Once the glue was dry I filled each of the cloud holes with sequins.

I took a card base and used the Distress inks to blend ink where the clouds would sit. Once this was day I brushed over the area with an anti static powder tool.

To complete the card I adhered the card base on top of the fun foam.

Thanks for dropping by.

Never stop dreaming card

Hello. Happy New Year.

I just wanted to say Thank You to each and every one of you who follow me, like and comment on my posts. It means the world.

Today I am sharing a card using the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit for December 2018.

I started by arranging my stamps on to get a rough layout for my card. Once I was happy I stamped the two fairies and the ladybird on to Neenah solar white 80lb cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Next I stamped the same images on to some masking paper and cut them out. I then placed the masks over these images. I could then stamp the flowers over the fairy and ladybird. Each time I stamped a flower I made a mask and added it to my scene.

You need to make sure the images you want towards the front or on top of something are stamped first.

Once my images were all stamped and masked I used Distress Oxide inks to blend a background. I used picked raspberry and salty ocean. Once I was happy I Spitzed it with water and lifted the water with a paper towel and then removed the masks.

Now I was able to start colouring. I used copic markers.

Once the images were coloured I added a sentiment and some falling dandelion seeds. I did this by stamping the sentiment in Wow embossing pad then sprinkled with Wow embossing powder super fine metalic platinum. I then used a heat gun to set it.

I finished off the card adding some sparkle to the wings of the fairies using the sparkle pen included in the kit.

I hope you like it. I am really happy with the scene.
