Hello. Today I am sharing a card that sends a positive message to start the year. I made this card as part of the Altenew Educator Certification Programme.

The class this time was ‘Polychromatic.’ I chose to base my card on a lesson focusing on using similar colours to make a card
To start the card I took the Altenew stamp set ‘Get Well Soon’ using sunflower images. I stamped the large flower once and the smaller flower twice using Memento Tuxedo black ink on to Xpress it white cardstock. Once the ink was dry I coloured the images with my Copic markers. I chose yellow for my card as this was a colour from the ‘In The Mood For Color’ class which represents energy, optimism and cheer.
I cut out the images and set them to one side to work on the background. I wanted to do some ink smooshing, so I selected Distress Oxide inks in Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade and put a bit of each colour on to my glass mat then sprayed with some water. I then took a piece of cellophane wrapper from a piece of packaging and placed it into the watered down ink and transfersed it on to my card panel. I did this for all three colours moving the ink in various directions to make the effect.

Once the background was dry, I die cut a rectangle stitched border from the background panel and stamped the sentiment from the ‘Focus On You’ stamp set using. Next I adhered the flowers using foam tape to add some dimension to the larger image. I added some white orchid sequins from Lucys Cards to add some shine.
To complete the card I attached the panel to a card base using foam tape.
I hope you like the card. Take care for now.
Katrina
