Today I am sharing a card I made as part of the Altenew Educator Certification Programme.
The class for this card was called ‘In the mood for color.’ This class is all about the moods different colours depict. I chose to use yellow as this is not a colour I would naturally gravitate towards when colouring floral images. Yellow is for energy, cheer and optimism so perfect for a Birthday card.
To start my card I stamped images from the new Altenew stanp set ‘ Breezy Bouquet. I stamped the images on to Xpress it blending card with Memento Tuxedo black ink and and coloured the image with my Copic markers. I used yellows Y11, Y13, Y15 and Y19.
Once my image was coloured I took some Distress Oxide inks in Mustard Seed, Squeezed Lemonade and Black Soot to add some splatters around the flowers by adding the ink to a little water and flicking it from a small paint brush.
When I was colouring one of my markers leaked causing a blob of green ink over my leaves. This was easily fixed. I stamped a tag from the stamp set, cut it out and mounted it on some foam pads. This added some dimension to the card and hid the ink without me having to start all over again.
I stamped the sentiment with Altenew Obsidian black pigment ink.
To complete the card I mounted my panel on to a card base and added a strip of yellow patterned paper to the edge of the card. I added a few sequins for some sparkle.
I hope you like the card and are inspired to try colours you would not normally use to create the mood of a card.
Take care for now.
